The novel Black Beauty by Anna Sewell is one of the most popular books of all time. It has been made into cartoons, television shows and movies. This game is a bit atypical in that it can be played as a 10-payline video slot or as a 20-payline game without any drop in RTP. Wild Woman Symbol

The woman seen on the reels, who is suggested to be Lady Gordon from the story, is the main wild symbol (but not the only wild symbol). She gets 250x for five of a kind and 50x for four. You can also pick up 5x for three of a kind, and the win for just two of a kind is 0.5x. She substitutes for everything in the game except for the scatter symbols, and it's really important to understand just how critical she is to getting a lot of extra payouts that you wouldn't have received otherwise.

Black Beauty Scatters and Free Spins

The free spins mode is the main bonus feature for this game, and it's activated by three of the Black Beauty symbols all on the reels at the same time. This symbol only appears on the first, third and fifth reels, and when you get all three of them, you're given a set of 10 free spins. You cannot re-trigger this feature, however. The reason for this is that the Black Beauty symbol becomes an extra wild symbol during the free spins, and it counts for the wild payouts that we described above for the woman symbol.

Top-Level Wins and Payouts

There's a symbol with three white horses running across a dark blue background. This is the top-paying regular symbol, and it gives you 50x for five of a kind. The saddle symbol is up next, and its payout is 25x for five on an activated payline. There are also two different symbols that will give you 12.5x for five, and those are the pearl necklace and the diamond tiara.

All four of these symbols have something in common with the wild. They all pay out for two of a kind or more, so you'll get an increased hit-rate thanks to these higher-level symbols.

Low-Tier Symbols and Prizes

Rounding out the lower level of the pay table is the set of five card ranks. The red A symbol with a crown and the orange K with a crown will each earn you a prize of 7.5x when you line up five on a payline. Likewise, the yellow Q with a heart and the green J with a horse head each pay out 5x for five of a kind. The same payout is yours when you have five of the blue 10 symbol on a payline for a 5x win.

In Summary

Players who were fans of the Black Beauty book or film will probably enjoy the video slot, at least for a period of time. Gamomat definitely gets credit for using a theme that we're not sure gets seen enough in the industry as far as using old novels and themes from literature as the bases for slots. With that having been said, we're not sure how much of an audience this game will find because many people may not even be familiar with the fact that it's based on a novel at this point because of how old it is.
