The Emerald Isle, as they call Ireland, has been included in hundreds of games so far, in one form or another.

Often enough, it’s with symbols such as those we find in Irish Love…

...using beautiful young women, leprechauns, beer and plenty of luck related icons that we will cover in detail below.

Irish Love is a game which is available via 1x2 Gaming.

The 5x3 reels will have 10 active lines on them. It’s not a very rewarding game, paying up to 1,500x the stake at most, and with a 94% RTP which is below average by quite a bit.

The Medium volatility is fine.

Feature wise…

...it’s trying to use several types of wilds, scatters and two types of free spins, to make the action interesting.

Theme

Many slots that feature leprechauns and a Celtic theme are often rather madcap affairs in terms of design.

There’s a far more gentle, whimsical feel to Irish Love.

With blue skies, fluffy white clouds and green fields in the background…

... you’ll see plenty of imagery relating to the theme spinning around the reels.

The lower value symbols include a violin, a pipe, a leprechaun’s green show, a 4-leaf clover and a golden horseshoe.

The higher value symbols (which are the only ones you’ll see in the Bonus Free Spins feature) are all edged in gold. These include a ginger and blonde woman and cheeky looking leprechauns in green and gold suits.

The imagery here isn’t the sharpest.

There’s an almost soft-focus look to the imagery but it fits the whimsical theme.

So too does the backing track. It’s a slowed down, orchestral version of Molly Malone which had us humming along.

The interface is rather basic. You can change the stakes by clicking on the pile of coins in the bottom left corner of the screen. Click on the 3 lines to open the setting.

This shows you the paytable. You can also get more game details from the i button or change the audio setting as required.

Betting Options

This non-progressive release takes place on a five by three grid against a backdrop of the rolling greenery of Ireland.

Bets can be made from as little as 0.10 and as much as 50 while the maximum jackpot is 500x your stake. To land a win, you need to match at least three of the same symbols, starting from the left-hand side of the grid.

Setting the autoplay is simple.

Just click on the button above the spin button and you can set up to 99 autospins.

There is no facility to set win or loss limits or to end autoplay when you trigger the feature. It is possible to set quick spin mode though.

You will have to go into the setting tabs then adjust accordingly. If you want to step up the pace manually you can do so by clicking the space bar to spin.

The leprechaun is the highest paying symbol on the reels, as you might expect!

The grinning fellow can award between 25 and 500 coins. The leprechaun with the white beard and the blue hat is next with coin prizes ranging from 20 to 250.

The blonde lady pays between 15 and 150 coins while the red-haired one pays between 10 and 100 coins.

The medium value symbols are the horseshoe, the four-leaf clover, and the leprechaun’s shoe, all of which are worth between five and 50 coins. The pipe and the violin pay the least with payouts ranging from two to 15 coins.

The wild symbol is the image of the leprechaun’s cottage with a rainbow over it. The wild can appear on any reels and substitutes any regular symbols.

There is also another wild symbol…

...which is a golden version of the regular wild that can appear during the free spins only.

The scatter symbol is represented by the red mushrooms which can appear on the first, third, and fifth reels. There is also a pot of gold bonus symbol that appears on the second, third, and fourth reels.

The Return to Player (RTP) in Irish Love is 96% which puts in in the middle of the pack. You can play this Irish themed slot on desktop, mobile and tablet devices as standard.

Special Features

The red and white toadstool symbol is the scatter. Land this on reels 1, 3 and 5 on the same base game spin and you will trigger the first of the game’s 2 bonus rounds – the Scatter Free Spins feature.

Your reward is 5 free spins.

Look out for the special gold wild symbol. Each time 1 of these appears during the feature, it locks in position and remains wild for any free spins you have remaining.

Each sticky wild that lands will also add 1 extra free spin to your total.

The Bonus Free Spins feature is triggered by landing the pot of gold coins on reels 2, 3 and 4 on the same spin.

Once again, 5 free spins are on offer.

These play out on a new set of reels where all the lower value symbols are removed. Wilds aren’t sticky in this round. If you land a full stack of wilds, you will see an extra free spin added to your tally.

That is your lot as far as features go. As we’ve already said, this is a simple slot.

Our Take

The base game action is very straightforward. Things can really come alive courtesy of the free spins where the sticky wilds and high value symbol spins can rev up the rather pedestrian pace.
