Theme

If you do not know who Bruce Buffer is, do not sweat it!

The game centers around Mixed Martial Arts ring announcer Bruce Buffer who, we are sure many would agree, is the lesser-known of the Buffer half-brothers.

The brother, who grew up separately, did not actually get together until 1989 when their father got in touch with Michael after seeing him on TV announcing a title fight with his trademarked catchphrase, “Let’s get ready to rumble!”

In the mid-90s, Michael appointed Bruce as his manager, a partnership which later grew into a business tie-up as Bruce himself started getting recognition for his work as the octagon UFC ring announcer, establishing a trademarked catchphrase of his own – “It’s Time”.

…open this Relax Gaming title to find yourself standing in front of the mighty Octagon with background strobe lights and an upbeat soundtrack recreating the start of a UFC night. The reels projected on to one side of the mesh ring and feature prominently the legendary Bruce Buffer wearing his signature bowtie and four MMA fighters in an artistic cartoon style. Relax Gaming went to great lengths to centre the features around MMA fighters and Bruce by incorporating one random feature and two bonus games into the slot, each triggered by its own mechanic.

So what do we have here? Let’s see:

The UFC fight night on slot reels starts with the Hot Spot Feature which can trigger randomly at the start of any spin in the base game. A square with four positions in the center of the reels will be marked with an electrical arc.

If four matching fighter or Bruce symbols land in the Hot Spot, they will lock into place as Sticky Wilds and trigger a re-spin. All triggering symbols landing in view on the respin will turn into wilds before the win evaluation is made.

Now:

Let’s dig a bit deeper, shall we?

Landing two different fully Stacked Fighter symbols on reels one and six in one spin will trigger the Fighter Bonus with five respins. During the feature, all triggering fighter symbols and all other matching symbols in view will turn sticky until the end of the bonus game. Plus, only the two triggering character symbols and blanks will be on the reels throughout the feature.

But wait, there is more!

More matching symbols appearing on a respin will become sticky as well and will stay until the end unless they are replaced through one of the modifiers that can trigger on any respin. Sticky symbols count as modern features and many players just LOVE this boosting mechanic!

The modifiers activate when one of the four action symbols land on the reels. Action symbols appearing on reels two and three belong to the left fighter while those on reel four and five belong to the fighter on the right.

And WHY this is important?

Each action symbol will apply a modifier by creating overlay sticky fighter symbols based on where they landed. In case of a clash, the higher-value fighter prevails. The winner of the bonus round is the symbol that has taken up the most positions on the reels.

Here’s what the action symbols will trigger:

Upgrade: Increases the feature multiplier by x1 (starting multiplier is x1)
Left: Turns itself and one or two symbols to the left into the relevant fighter
Right – Turns itself and one or two symbols to the right into the relevant fighter
Diagonal – Turns itself and all 4 diagonally placed positions into the relevant fighter

Once the winner has been determined, ALL LOSING symbols will be replaced with the WINNER before the win evaluation.

The displayed multiplier will be applied to the total win before it is paid.

Do you think everything is over? Not even close!

Get ready for the grand finale when you hit fully stacked Bruce Buffer symbols on reels one and six in one spin. It will trigger the Buffer Bonus with three respins. All triggering symbols and all others in view will turn sticky for the feature. During the respins…

...only Bruce Buffer symbols and blanks are present on the reels. Any further landing will turn sticky too and reset the counter to three. The from the Fighter Bonus can land as well, awarding the same modifiers or progressive multipliers.

So when does it end…

The feature will end when you run out of respins or the entire screen has been filled with Bruce Buffer symbols. The reached multiplier is again applied to the total win. A full screen will pay 500x your bet with an x1 multiplier.

Our Take

Ever since Relax Gaming announced the two branded slots with the famous Buffer Brothers we have been waiting patiently to get the first glimpse at the creations. Today was the day and it was worth the wait.

It’s Time slot is INTENSE and VOLATILE as expected, has ample features that evolve around the main characters and decent win potential. Exciting!
